There’s something about the south that makes everyone feel at home. Even the hardest city slicker is forced to slow down. Or could it be the warm and welcoming southern front porches beckoning neighbors to “sit for a spell” while enjoying homemade sweet tea? Or maybe it is the way that everyone says “please”, “thank you” and “yes ma’am”? Let’s not forget that good ole’ southern cooking that you can smell from every kitchen window right before supper time. Whatever it is there’s no denying, there is no place like the south. I lived in the south for ten years and I can tell you nothing beats strolling down the cobblestone streets of Savannah or Charleston {or any lovely southern town} on a warm summer night hand in hand with your sweetheart.
The south holds a special place in my heart. It’s where I met my husband, where we shared our first home as a married couple on a street named Lenox Road, a road I dreamed about living on when I first arrived in Atlanta. It is where co-workers became lifelong best friends and where my favorite breakfast place “The Flying Biscuit” serves the best apple butter. Creating this wedding inspiration board brought back many wonderful memories of my days in the south.

This is the second inspiration board I have created for my lovely friends over at Pressed Cotton. While creating this board I thought of the late summer weddings of the south, when the weather has cooled down enough for you to actually enjoy being outside. After attending the wedding ceremony at the town church, I imagine everyone heading back to the home of the bride’s parents for a beautiful yet laid back outdoor reception. Neighbors stop by with pies and baked goods in hand to congratulate the new Mr. and Mrs. and add to the feast. The celebration is nothing formal just good food and good friends celebrating love. Fresh homemade biscuits, right out of the oven, are placed on each table to accompany a true southern meal. Pies, in every flavor you can imagine, are placed around the traditional wedding cake waiting for you to try. When the eating is done, live music fills the air and the stars above twinkle brightly to the music as the newlyweds dance the night away with their guests. Now doesn’t that sound perfect, y’all?
Please be sure to check out Pressed Cotton of Facebook and Twitter , too! Many of the items used to create the board can be found at Pressed Cotton’s online store.
You’re making me miss the south!
Perfect ‘feel’ for getting together! Love the color palette!
