It is easy to see why royalty were the only individuals allowed to wear purple and blue centuries ago. Not only were the dyes very expensive there was no denying then or now that both colors can be quite regal. These rich dark hues always add an air of glamour to a wedding palette when done right.

When working on a wedding inspiration board or mood board I create a story, in my mind, regarding the circumstances around the fictitious day. Doing so helps me set the mood and gather the perfect images. In this case, the wedding did not take place in Paris {surprised right?} but it did take place in France! The couple returned to the bride’s parents home somewhere in the provincial French countryside. A mix of old and new came together to create a lovely and intimate gathering with timeless traditions made new with a few special touches. The bride wore a family necklace that she inherited and lovingly had reset. The family’s heirloom china was given a bit of a lift with gorgeous blue chargers and fancy silk napkins. The summer air, redolent of lavender, welcomed guests to the wedding weekend on a lovely July afternoon with delicious lavender martinis {click here for the recipe}. Local lavender farmers provided the dried lavender buds that were placed in satchels and delicious lavender macarons {click here for recipe} were boxed for guests as a little take away and thank you for their journey to the French countryside. What a lovely weekend it was!
Love this inspiration board! The mix of dark and light purples is perfection.
Thanks Sara! xx
