Never was there a flower more suited for romantic wedding bouquets than the astilbe. Even it’s meaning, “I will still be waiting for you” conjures up thoughts of romance and longing. Astilbe is the perfect filler next to the most iconic of wedding flowers like cabbage roses, ranunculus, and of course peonies yet it stands perfectly alone. Although delicate in appearance, it is a hardy perennial and can grow almost anywhere. Also called false goat’s beard and false spirea, the feathery plant can grow up to two feet which makes it equally suitable for centerpieces and decor. It brings such softness and beauty to floral designs and that is why astilbe is today’s Fancy Flower pick.
