Venue Views – Lyford House, Northern California

I am smitten with the first post in the new series “Venue Views” because Lena is one of my favorite bloggers! This venue is simply perfect and so is her description of  it…

I’m Lena, an East Coast native living in San Francisco, and I write A Crimson Kiss, a wedding blog that reflects my classic sensibilities (and love of well-mixed cocktails). I’m planning a Rhode Island wedding, but it’s hard to deny the appeal of all of Northern California’s gorgeous venues; at the top of my dream list is the Lyford House, a National Historic Landmark and wildlife sanctuary for the National Audubon Society.

I can’t resist the sunny yellow shade or the stunning location, which boasts beautiful views of San Francisco, our adopted hometown. I imagine an afternoon wedding in the early fall, arguably San Francisco’s loveliest (and most predictably temperate) season, in a palette of ivory, lemon and slate, with touches of sea blue.

Taking full advantage of the weather, I’d hold both the ceremony and the reception outside, with a farm-to-table supper and California’s most delicious sauvignon blancs and pinot noirs. I’d love the city lights to brighten up the bay as everyone took to the dance floor, and depart in a vintage white Packard festooned with white cans and paper bells!
