Chocolate Amaretto Crêpe Cake & Lovely Links

It’s no secret; I am more than a tad bit obsessed with wedding cakes and confections and if you just clicked on that link, you can see from the followers on that Pinterest board, I’m not the only one. Before you start thinking about the scale of my obsession {pun intended} allow me to clarify; I’m not obsessed with eating them it’s the amazing designs that I love most of all. However, one of my favorite cakes to eat is the French crêpe cake. It is a great alternative to the traditional wedding cake and can be just as delicious…sometimes even more so. Crêpe cakes may lead some to believe that they have fewer calories than a traditional cake because of the crêpe’s light and airy nature. Not true. There is power in numbers and those layers do add up. However, on your wedding day who cares? Dancing all night will counteract those pesky calories!

I love the flavor of Amaretto liqueur and since it’s the only liqueur I drink, when I read that it plays a major role in this cake, I was instantly drawn to it. We have Heather of SprinkleBakes  to thank for creating this sinful French masterpiece. Layer upon layer of crêpes are separated by a rich chocolate Amaretto filling and then sealed with an Amaretto chocolate ganache to complete the decadence. The images of this cake gave my sweet tooth an insatiable ache the evening I found it. Since I’ve done my fair share of mouthwatering obsession over this cake, here are a few images to torture you for a bit…
