I came upon this Norwegian home and loved it immediately. For awhile I could not get my eyes off of the perfectly placed three-sided fireplace! Some may find it a bit dark but with the abundance of windows one must only pull the window panels apart to let the natural light flood in. Beautiful appointments create a cozy yet glamorous feel. The muted tones are so easy on the eyes creating an instant place to settle down and relax. Textured wallpaper, silk window panels, gray floors {love!} and walls create the perfect backdrop for the eclectic mix of old and new. What do you think? Scroll down for some thoughts on your own home’s décor.
I often joke that I need to have more than one home for all the different types of design and décor that I love. I would say I am eclectic but I would also say, I decorate our homes based on the location, and how the home “talks” to me. Whatever our décor tastes are, they reflect all of the different facets of who we are. That is why I think I love interior décor and design as much as I love collaborating on the design of a wedding with couples. A wedding tells your guests who you are by the personal details and touches you chose to share. The same holds true for your home. If done carefully with thought, the choices you make for your home’s decor can express who you are without a word from you. The art and paint colors you chose to adorn your walls, the placement of accessories, your choice of lighting and how it highlights or hides your home’s architectural elements or flaws…they all come together to tell a story. Does your home tell a story? And if so what story does it tell?
