If you happen to be visiting New York City for the holidays take the subway towards the ultra chic and artsy Manhattan neighborhood of SoHo for Tiffany & Co.’s latest boutique store {there’s a lot to see, shop, eat, and do in SoHo, so don’t worry it will be worth the train ride}. Different in looks than the traditional the company’s iconic Fifth Avenue Flagship store, this boutique’s interior features the works of the who’s who of the artisan world. The chandelier by Michele Oka Doner is gorgeous work of art with its twisting magnolia branches. The magnolia motif was carried out through other parts of the showroom walls and as well as the private shopping salon. The entire boutique spans a SoHo block {Greene and Wooster Streets}.
While the boutique was being built, Tiffany commissioned four artists to adorn the temporary wood façade. All are beautiful works of art, however I was drawn to the one created by the talented Danny Roberts, who is also the author of the blog Igor & Andre. Her painting brings to mind a gathering of the elite at a fancy ball. The dresses and details are gorgeous. I wonder what they did with the beautifully painted plywood after it was taken down. How lovely would that look in someone’s home!
The plywood façade is gone but the beauty of the permanent store front and the beautiful design of the store, inside and out, fits SoHo perfectly.
