Hello! It’s Ashley The Blonde in Africa and the stationer at Lemon and Lavender. My family and I moved to Dakar, Sénégal in January of this year and I began writing about our journey living in a third world country. Despite the difficulties we absolutely love living in West Africa and I wanted to dream up a magical place near Dakar. I immediately thought of the Cape Verde Islands. It’s a short 40 minute flight out of Dakar and the views are breathtaking. My style is very eclectic and I am already imagining the fun ways this shipwrecked deserted island can be played out in the paper goods for this dream wedding!
I came upon this lovely villa of Spinguera. In the middle of a natural park it’s completely secluded and the perfect backdrop for a rustic getaway wedding. Prior to renovations it was an abandoned ancient fishermen settlement including the remains of a shipwreck off the coast.
I envision a beach wedding with this amazingly romantic Shakespearean/Lord Byron shipwreck in the background, a barefoot bride, rustic wooden benches with bright pillows for guests, hundreds of lanterns as there isn’t any electricity, maybe a violinist playing some romantic gypsy music while guests dance and sip champagne on the beach under the moonlight.

A gorgeous destination for a rustic chic wedding {or elopement} in Cape Verde. A place by the sea…just you and me. http://t.co/b0lRp032
Seriously? It’s like heaven on earth. Gorgeous 🙂
Guess who is guest blogging on Inside the Lovely? @lemonandlavender and she has picked an amazing venue to share! http://t.co/9UH2pLag
Beautiful! I’ve been to Cape Verde, and the views are just as stunning as they seem in pics. BUT, it is SUPER windy. Wind all the time, every day. So anyone planning their wedding there needs to be ready for some windswept photos!
